Anime Collection / Watch list

okies it seems that I watch more anime than movies. I watch movies once in a blue moon and only the very good ones at that. Movie tickets are now $12.50!! Its not the money factor that prevents me from seeing a good movie I just don't get the urge to see every new movie that's out and if I remember it later on and it's on DVD and in the library for free that's great. My issues with going to movies is that I can't stand to spend $12.50, 1.5-2 hours movie time, 1 hour transportation and if the movie sucks I fee ripped off. With books and anime I get to read the back, open it flip to the center and decide if its worth watching or reading. I've seen movies where the best parts were the trailer.

I've reached the point where I now have more new anime to watch than I have time so what I've been doing is saving them up into a folder titled to watch later. Stuff like code geas while I enjoy it .. I dont really have time to watch it along with the 3 others I do watch.

Do's and Don'ts of New Year's Eve

Okies this is the reference to WOW's own lunar festivals see if you can spot the similarities!

The Chinese New Year is a time for gathering with the family to say goodbye to things that no longer serve us and welcome in a new, prosperous year. Here are some of the main activities and superstitions for a prosperous new year.

BEFORE NEW YEARS EVE
  • Clean the entire house to get rid of any ill-fortune associated with the past year and make room for incoming good luck.
  • Put away all brooms and brushes.
  • Pay all your debts
  • Resolve differences with relatives, family members, friends, business associates
  • Prepare meals for New Years Eve and New Years Day
  • Decorate your house with plastic firecrackers to frighten away evil spirits and the bad luck they might bring.
  • Decorate your home with live blooming plants to symbolize rebirth and new growth.
  • Display oranges and tangerines to symbolize abundant happiness and a candy tray with eight varieties of dried sweet fruit to start the new year sweetly.

NEW YEARS EVE ( Sunday, January 25, 2009 )
  • Get together with family for a meal and family activities.
  • Pay respects to your ancestors.
  • Set off firecrackers at midnight to send out the old year and welcome the new year.
  • Open every door & window at midnight to let go of the old year
NEW YEARS DAY ( Monday, January 26, 2009 )
The events that occur on New Years Day may have an impact on the rest of the year so be careful with your words, your deeds, what you eat and whom you greet.
  • Don't wash your hair or you will wash away any good luck for the new year
  • Wear brand new clothes
  • Wear the color red for joy and happiness.
  • Don't wear white or black as they are colors of mourning.
  • Greet your relatives, neighbors, and friends and wish them well.
  • Don't greet people in mourning and vice versa if you are in mourning do not greet people.
  • Give red envelopes with lucky money to children and unmarried people.
  • Don't sweep the floor or clean or you may sweep away your luck.
  • Don't say the number "four" (which sounds like the Chinese word for death)
  • Don't mention death or tell ghost stories.
  • Don't cook.
  • Don't use knives or scissors or you may cut off fortune.
  • Don't lend money or you will be lending all year.
  • Don't borrow money.

The Life of a Super Casual WOW player

I'm now a super casual .. though as a former raider I'm hardcore in my play but super casual in terms of time.  I know my classes very well at least its PVE roles and such.   This super casual abhors the random afkers and bad players.  You see there's the super casual due to RL commitments so I just can't be raiding it up until 3 in the morning as I'd get nothing else done but when I play I play hard and well.

6-8 hours = ZZzzz
1 hour = log on wow run AH scans,  shower, make and eat breakfast, get dressed, read online news, papers and go over my to do list for the day. Before leaving house = switch servers and auto scan AH and leave house.
2-2.5 hours commuting
6  hours either studying or work or inefficenty
4 hours class
1.5-2 hours (breakfast, lunch, dinner bathroom)
Come home -- log on wow, run scans on server #3,  heat up dinner,  log in server #1 autoget mail and repost items for sale, scan AH and eat dinner.  read paper or watch anime while AH is working

Oh yes 15 mins of wow a day or 2-3 on weekends

WOW friends & RL

so ..do people meet their true love on wow .. Some do and most don't. I dont think I would fall for a wow guy just because its not something I log on to wow to do. Sure I enjoy a lot of people's company but my emotions and such just aren't invested in it. I would also be a little nuts to say that I am infatuated with someone else's pixels. Also people are not who they say they are with WOW and I keep that in mind. I log on to WOW specifically to play and not date so that's what I'm going to do.

I personally like to keep my 3-5 lives separate and under very specific circumstance will wow friends meet myself or my inner circle. WOW friends are kind of on the brink between outer ring a little farther out. They are untested so I need to get to know them more before they're cleared to be outer ring friends.

I have 3 rings of friends: inner, outer and milky way which not really friends but are people I like to keep in contact with.

I think the "real me" is a little of everything mixed in and with certain facets of the original is shown to people depending on what I'm doing, who I'm with and where I'm at. There is a lite blending of sorts between my 5 selves : Wow player, Worker, Student, Aspiring Artist, Friend and the Real me. I think this is totally normal and works fine. Though sometimes the outer ring people from the me facets do want to meet my full self and thats usually where I set limits.

I dunno why I dislike merging my separate halves but I'm sure it's got to do with privacy I vaule my personal space.

Rule #1: Friends and money do not mix.
Rule #2: No money lending unless i'm giving it to you

Sociology: Real Life vs. Character Progression

I noticed a strong link between your WOW character style and your real life personality.

GOALS:
Wow: I have a random no motive leveling pattern each of my toons leveled in random spurts
whenever i'd get motivated. On on cassion I do get motivated to level like when I found out that the Armani Warbear mounts would be taken out of game on the expac .. so what did I do? I got my butt to 70 in record time and paid 23k gold to the server's top raiding guild to get my mount on the very last day. Priest alt same thing I was running into a RL hard deadline of stuff that was going to eat up my wow time so i'm gonna get to 80 in 2 months on 1-2 toons probably.

RL: I dont have a set goal but new ideas each time so I quit and try my new ideas and repeat. My work habits involves procrastinating until it gets to a critical point then I cram and speed through it.

GOLD & MONEY

Wow - I rarely farm but rather work the AH when I'm short gold otherwise its scan AH whenever I make enough to have my epic training and supply friends/family thier epic mounts as well. Otherwise I'm thrifty you dont see me buying blues and stuff to gear up and i'll even skip the enchants unless it's a leve 80 epic

RL -same thing I work hard, save money and have never been completely broke. Again I rarely do shopping and its usually for necessities and some small luxury items .. like alienware computer so i can wow no i mean work better.

PROGRESSION:
Wow - I have a few alts though there's no question which toon is my main as I dont have a lot of high level alts but a bunch of low level ones and across 3 servers. I dont care that much and have no specific direction I just level my 3 mains across 3 servers because I enjoy about 10 people's company and i enjoy the socializing part than actually leveling so its better if i'm grouped with thier alt and they drag me along while talking :) See? i'm lazy

RL - I've gone through some 5 major changes as a student, 10 companies and 3-5 career changes all at a fairly young age sure it screams job hopper and undecisive, impulsive as I wouldn't hesitate to quit a job and start school if that's what I believed but at the same time I make mistakes in not preparing for the transition.

LOYALTY
Wow - I have been lucky that I found a very good guild so I've been with them since 2005 and when they rerolled I kept a toon in their new guild and slowly leveled it after not leveling it for 6 months.

RL - friends and family yes work no. I owe no company anything and would switch places if there was more monies, benefits etc. Othewise I try to keep in contact as my friends list is very short and those that make the cut are rare.

How to find a Good Guild

Guilds are everywhere but really good guilds are hard to find. This guide will help you find it.
First off you must ask yourself a few questions and be honest because your answers will decide how good of a match the guild is for you. You are trying to find guilds who share your ideals and have stuff in common with you.

A guild application is like a job application so the same way you'd approach a job ap do it here.
Did i mention avoid the trade chat LFM guilds? good guilds dont' advertise

Research: most the info can be found online read your server's general forum alot of guilds post their recruitment and guild info there and really state exactly what they're looking for so that should be your first step.

PUG groups and pay attention to your members if they seem especially skilled friends list them and add a note saying so and so are good healers.

Questions to ask YOURSELF
  1. What do you want to do in wow? rp, pvp, pve, raid, or just hang out
  2. What do you want to do in wow that requires a guild?
  3. Why do you want to be in a guild?
  4. What skills do you bring to the guild
  5. Who do you know that's in guilds?
  6. What is your personality like?
  7. How to you talk? cuss, swear lots, sexy talk .. whatever
  8. What is your age / maturity level
Questions to ask of GUILDS
You want to talk to people from guilds that you're interested in so here's a list of questions to ask them.
  1. What does your guild do? pvp, rp, pve, raid .. or nothing we're just that casual
  2. What is your website?
  3. Tell me about your guild
  4. How is raid drafting done
  5. What kinda guild activaties is availble
  6. What's the loot policy
  7. What times does the guild usually raid or play
ACTIONS
once you've IDed your target guilds you want to get to know some of these people to get a better feel for thier guild culture. This is a chance for you to impress them while seeing if you like thier guild. Form a group for a heroic instance, then do a /who and whisper people from the guild you want to be in to see if they'd like to come. I'd take 2-3 people from that guild and fill the other 2 with random pug or one person from another guild or 2 that you're considering. And if you're really daring go take all 4 members from one guild so you get to see that this is how they run thier runs.

So in essence you're interviewing your potential guilds so if everything goes well you go in for your application

The SErver transfer
Same thing Research and talk to people. As a low level you wont' have the option of running heroics with your potential guildy so make a level 1 toon run it to the nearest city and start whispering people from the guilds you want to join and ask them the same questions.

NEXT Entry: Guild Application 101

Watch how your group members deal with a wipe, mistakes, gear I'd say run the heroic to the best of your abilities then somewhere make a mistake or two and see what thier response is or shoot do a auto run and wipe the group. This is a calculated mistake where you make no mistakes on other than purposely wipe them to see what and how they respond. Pay attention to what they say and how they say it.

If you liked these people put them on your friends list and ask them out to more heroics after you've done 3+ heroics with the same group of people you can ask them about thier guild and by that point they will feel like you're a friend of sorts and would endorse your invite.

Elite guilds and other very good hardcore/casual guilds are also hard to get into so unless you have some connections or another. Even having good gear isn't enough to get you an invite so friends are it.

Logs: sleepy priest site change logs

This is where I'm keeping track of major changes to the site look feel layout of

8/17/09 added lables for every post. yes I had to work backwards which reminds me to always lable it so i never have to do this again. Questions the vaule of google adsense .. not getting paid kk. deleting all ads

2/17/09 I deleted 3 inactive blogs and merged its info into this website as 1 thread which I wil update and its sorted by the anime lable. I just use my anime thread to track my favorite animes

2/8/09
I changed all fonts to arial and increased the contrast as it finally dawned on me that I'm using a lite grey font for the titles and that it was nearly unreadable. Most of this site is kept white as I want to emphasize the whitespace.

1/1/09 closed some lables added new ones.

Happy New Years 2009!

Wee the new year is here! have goals, plan a way to get tio the goal and keep to the plan

Alts:
I have alot of retired toons so come winterveil time and other freebie events day I pickup alot of loots. I recently retired an epicly geared priest 70 just because I have 3 priests across 3 servers and I wouldn't want to do the same ole thing yet again. So I went with my alliance druid who got in to the guild she applied for.

In Game Goals:
1.) powerlevel priest #3 to 80 (I'm burnt out already just thinking about it)
2.) casually level priest #2 to 80 (once a week)
3.) casually level druid to 80 (once a week)
4.) get gold for all these epic mounts!
5.) gear up from all the special events epics
6.) pvp? maybe ..

The order doesn't matter but that these things get done. Waa i dont want to power level my priest again .. that was tiring
